Norwich Knights registered their first National League win of the season against newly promoted Nomads. The 2008-09 SERL champions strengthened in the offseason and as a consequence, many had this one down as an away win.
However, no one had informed Knights as to this expectation and the home side battle their way to an enthralling 13-10 victory.
While the away side had added to their squad, Knights saw a mini-exodus with Charlie Vogwill and Joe Stirling leaving for university and Ami Broughton having a first child, which was born only 14 or so hours before the game kicked off.
Despite this, Knights were able to claim the points off a side they only narrowly scraped a one-goal victory when they had a squad people would argue was much stronger back in May.
Coupled with the fact that their defeat against Nottingham in the season opener was marginally smaller than the reverses they inflicted on them last year, it is quite clear that Norwich Knights are a squad on a steep curve of improvement.
